“Farming Is a Fundamental Source of National Prosperity.”
Nelson Mandela
According to a World Bank study, the economic benefits of higher education graduates are life-changing, with an estimated 10% increase in earnings compared to those who did not pursue secondary education. Those with only primary education are twice as likely as those with secondary education to be unemployed. However, underprivileged young people, between the age of 16 to 25, are rarely given the chance to pursue their education even when they show capabilities and motivation.
Our Jane’s fund is focussing on raising funds for vocational scholarships as a way of investing in the future of these young people. Only those who are committed to developing entrepreneurial skills, such as crafting, farming/agricultural, will be offered the scholarship. This is a step towards formal work for the young adults, offering marketable skills and increased access to the labor market, allowing them to finally break from the cycle of poverty.

About Jane’s Fund
Jane’s scholarship fund has been named after Emmanuelle and Bob’s mothers who share the same name, Jane (Jeanne in French). This fund is tailored towards entrepreneurship of all sorts, with a special focus on agriculture.
Agriculture is often perceived negatively among the younger generations, as a dirty job that must be done by those who have totally failed to make ends meet in their communities. We wish to see a shift in the culture where such a profession is valued for its need of the knowledge of the ecosystem, determination, and physical resilience.
