Raising Livelihoods,One Animal at a Time

In Uganda’s rural communities, animals are more than food — they are income, investment, and a safety net for the future. For underprivileged youth and families, raising livestock can be the difference between surviving and thriving.
At TOUCEO, we are harnessing the power of animal husbandry to fight poverty, promote nutrition, and empower the next generation of farmers. Through our Young Farmers Initiative, we equip young people with the knowledge, resources, and support needed to turn small livestock projects into sustainable agribusinesses.

🐐 Why Animal Husbandry Matters

Livestock plays a vital role in Uganda’s economy and rural development:

Livestock such as goats, chickens, pigs, and cows provide multiple income streams through the sale of meat, milk, eggs, and offspring. For many rural families, animals are the first and often only source of steady income. A single goat or chicken can spark a livelihood when managed properly and with training and support, this income can grow exponentially.

Livestock helps ensure that farming households have a reliable source of protein and essential nutrients. Eggs, milk, and meat significantly improve family nutrition, especially for children. This consistent access to healthy food reduces malnutrition and strengthens physical and mental development, creating a stronger foundation for growth and learning in rural communities.

Animals function as financial safety nets, offering tangible assets that can be sold to cover school fees, healthcare costs, or emergencies. Young farmers learn to treat their livestock as long-term investments nurturing them, breeding them, and using them as springboards for more ambitious ventures like expanding farms or launching small agribusinesses.

Livestock manure is a natural fertilizer, enriching the soil and supporting healthy crop growth. This creates a circular benefit crops feed animals, animals fertilize crops. Young farmers are trained to manage and utilize waste effectively, making their farms more productive, sustainable, and environmentally friendly.

Transforming Lives

🚀 These Are Early Days — But Our Vision Is Bold

As a young and growing charity, TOUCEO is just getting started — and we have a lot to implement. But our vision is clear and ambitious:
🐾 Within the next three years, we aim to support over 100 underprivileged young farmers in one of the most forgotten parts of rural Uganda equipping them with the tools, training, and support to build sustainable livestock businesses that uplift entire households and communities.
Our mission is rooted in the belief that local solutions can address global challenges and that empowered youth can lead this change.

Our Goal: Transforming Livestock into Livelihoods

We work with committed young farmers under the age of 25 who are self-driven, community-trusted, and ready to grow. By focusing on scalable animal husbandry, we help youth go beyond backyard farming into real entrepreneurship. Our objectives include:

We introduce techniques for selecting and crossbreeding healthy, resilient animals to improve yield whether it’s more milk per cow, faster weight gain in pigs, or stronger egg-laying hens. Better breeds reduce disease risk, require less input, and increase profits for young farmers who depend on every animal.

Many youths lose animals due to preventable diseases. We train farmers on early detection, vaccination schedules, clean housing, and biosecurity to minimize loss. Learning basic veterinary practices and animal first aid empowers them to respond swiftly and reduce costly setbacks.

Our approach respects both animals and the environment. Farmers learn to adapt to climate challenges, manage waste, avoid overstocking, and maintain humane treatment. Ethical care not only leads to healthier animals but also improves public trust and market value.

Producing milk, eggs, or meat is only part of the journey selling them fairly is the next step. TOUCEO helps farmers identify local buyers, explore cooperatives, and improve packaging and pricing. We also educate them on financial literacy and how to reinvest their earnings sustainably.

Beyond farming, we aim to build youth into business-minded leaders. This includes bookkeeping, customer service, branding, and cooperative models. Special attention is given to young women, who often face barriers to land and resources, yet play a crucial role in agriculture.

🏠 What We Provide to Young Farmers

TOUCEO supports every stage of the animal husbandry journey — from starter animals to advanced farm management.

We train youth in animal health, nutrition, breeding, and farm management. Our workshops blend traditional knowledge with modern practices to ensure farmers understand their animals’ needs and how to care for them efficiently. Training is ongoing, with follow-up support and peer-to-peer mentoring.

Many young farmers lack proper housing for animals, resulting in sickness and loss. We assist them in building low-cost, durable shelters suited to their environment. Proper housing keeps animals safe from weather, theft, and predators and supports growth and reproduction.

We connect farmers to local vets and equip them with basic animal care knowledge. By improving access to vaccinations and treatments, we help prevent the spread of diseases and ensure healthier livestock. This reduces mortality and improves productivity, protecting the farmer’s investment.

A good product deserves a good market. We help young farmers identify local buyers, form collective marketing groups, and price their goods competitively. With guidance in sales and reinvestment, farmers move from survival mode to stable income generation.

Ideal for beginners, goats are hardy, require minimal land, and multiply quickly. Goat meat is widely consumed in Uganda, and there’s strong demand in local markets. Farmers learn to raise them for both meat and milk, expanding their herds through proper breeding and care.

Pigs are low-cost and fast to mature, making them a favourite for rural agribusiness. We support young farmers in constructing proper pigpens, learning disease prevention, and accessing markets that value clean, well-raised pork. A well-managed piggery can rapidly scale into a thriving business.

Cattle farming provides long-term benefits through milk production and breeding. Though more resource-intensive, cattle offer high returns. We support young farmers ready to take this step by connecting them with veterinary services, feed support, and guidance on herd management

Fast-growing and high-yielding, poultry farming is accessible and profitable. We train farmers in both broiler and layer production, helping them raise chickens in hygienic conditions with proper feeding systems. Eggs and chicken meat offer fast returns and steady income.

🐖 What Animals Are Raised?

Through the TOUCEO Young Farmers Initiative, we are turning rural youth into future-ready farmers who understand both tradition and innovation.

“Before TOUCEO, I had one chicken and no idea how to care for it. Today, I run a poultry business with over 60 birds. I’ve built a coop, bought feed in bulk, and I sell eggs to the nearby school.”
Gloria, 21, TOUCEO Young Farmer

“I didn’t think goat farming could be a business. But with training and shelter support, I’ve doubled my herd and paid for my younger sister’s school fees.”
Isaac, 24

🌿 Sustainability and Ethics

TOUCEO promotes responsible animal farming practices that protect animals, people, and the environment.
We teach youth to avoid overcrowding, ensure fresh air and space, and practice humane treatment.
We encourage using natural feeds where possible and discourage harmful additives.
Waste is managed through composting and careful disposal, keeping water sources clean.
This approach not only benefits animals but also builds public confidence and supports future sales.
