They might lack scholastic materials, such as books and pens. Such educational resources are often taken for granted but remain a luxury for many. Cosmas is an eleven-year-old boy who lives in the rural part of northern Uganda bordering the Democratic Republic of Congo. He has his parents, but they cannot afford to buy him books, nor any other scholastic materials required for his education. He is determined to succeed, [read more] and has resorted to writing his notes on a banana leaf (commonly called plantain). However, once the banana leaf dries out, it loses its green pigments and Cosmas notes do disappear. His willingness to succeed has led him to re-write his notes on fresh leaves every time he realises the leaf is drying out…
Life should not be so challenging for such a young child. There are many children like Cosmas in this area of the country who need support from whoever can make their dreams come true.
Despite all these challenges, Cosmas has managed to sit for his final primary exam and is now waiting for the results. He is worried that he might not be able to join a secondary school due to a lack of funding, so he is asking for your help.
